How To Protect Your House Against The Big Bad Wolf!

What do you do when the big bad wolf comes blowing? If he doesn’t try to get you one way, he’ll get you another. Whether it’s via the loss of your job, an unexpected financial setback in the family or via a reduction in interest rates or an increase in inflation, these are all things that can have an impact in your finances.
One of the aims in life is to reach a stage where you are financially secure; rock solid. In my opinion this involves building a financial house of bricks, solid against the financial weathers of life.

This post will attempt to explain how that can be accomplished

Budgeting, How Do You See It?

Imagine budgeting was a girl, what would she look like? The first thought is that she would be old plain and boring, kind of like the picture you see.

My job is to convince you that budgeting is actually very sexy and that it can sure make you RICH! In fact, fail to master budgeting and resign to remain poor, no matter your monthly income level!

Using the theory of Parkinson’s Law, our expenses will ALWAYS rise to meet our income level. If that’s true, the real key to success is learning how to consistently break Parkinson’s Law. What is the best thing to help in that endeavor?? Your budget!

Defaulted Debt - To Pay Or Not To Pay?

Part of my journey to yell0brickrd involves my desire to improve my credit rating so I can negotiate better terms on money I will be borrowing for property and business deals in the future.

We are all familiar with the idea that a bad credit rating affects your ability to secure credit for large purchases. Even if you are able to find your way around that, there is little room for negotiation on the massive interest rates that they will charge as a result of the risk level that they deem you carry.

Hot Commodities - Jim Rogers [Review]

If you want information about why and how commodities can provide excellent returns, I recommend you check out Hot Commodities. As a premise, Jim Rogers was one of the co-founders of the ‘Quantum Fund’ a hedge fund which ultimately returned 2400%. He is now the chairman of Rogers Holdings and is one of the most successful investors of our time.

This book will definitely increase your knowledge. Rogers explores the fundamentals of various commodities and explains some of the factors that cause them to rise and fall. He provides a lesson on oil and how it exploration is becoming difficult and provides some information on alternative energy sources that we may be utilizing use in the future.

He speaks about gold and its value, and explains the reasons why investors park their money here. I learnt a hell of a lot about gold from this book, originally believing that it was a monetary metal only. It turns out that isn’t the case. In other chapters he also goes into detail about how and why china is fast becoming an economic superpower and provides a wealth of information regarding other commodities such as lead, sugar and coffee.

How To Stretch Your Paycheck

Are you fed up of receiving your pay check, only to see the money completely gone before you have a chance to blink? How frustrating is it when your salary disappears so quickly that you have to struggle on for the last few weeks or days before you get paid again, only for the process to repeat itself?

Just before I decided to get serious about accumulating wealth my situation was exactly the same. My pay check simply didn’t stretch. Weeks before the end of the month areas of life would come to a standstill, simply because there was no income to do anything. After paying off all my bills the rest of the money would somehow evaporate and I would be left broke!

Nowadays however that is no longer a problem. Any flow of income that comes in effortlessly stretches until the next inflow comes through. So how do I achieve it?

Richard Reed On: 'INNOCENT'

One group of entrepreneurs whose success I have admired for a long time are the 3 founders of Innocent Smoothies. This is an interview by ‘Tigrent Learning UK’ with Richard Reed, one of the co-founders of the company.

Their business model has seen them expand from smoothies to Innocent food and, most recently, Innocent vitamins. I love the way they continue to expand their business and thereby their profitability and sustainability within the marketplace.

Their passion for providing healthy food and drink devoid of E numbers and other crazy chemicals, coupled with their commitment to giving to charity makes them a wonderful company to learn more about business from.

If you really want to learn more about their sheer determination to come to market, the rejection of 20 banks and various VC groups for funding etc, I recommend you check out their book, one that I will give a comprehensive review on soon!

Enjoy!

Dealing With Frustration

As all Yell0brickrd readers will know, my initial goal is to reach the stage where I am generating just over 30k per month or 400k per year passive income, without having to physically work for it. I chose this number because from a starting point of being FLAT BROKE, its enough inspiration and enough of a challenge to keep me laser focused.

My specific yell0brickrd journey with reference to my plan started only a month ago, but my personal journey in terms of self development and becoming the kind of person I desire to be with the attributes I have wished to have started much longer ago.

Upon some reflection of my journey so far, I became irritated and realized that I have been frustrated for quite some time. I consider this to be a very important post, and at

Why Invest In Yourself?

Over the years I have read so many books and listened to so many personal development programs which have helped to mould my ideas about who I am as a person, and about what I would like to achieve insofar as my finances are concerned. I am a voracious reader, as I strongly believe that increasing your knowledge is one of the most powerful ways to move forward. I am fortunate to have discovered very early on that investing in yourself is the absolute best thing you can do to achieve not only financial freedom, but all round success.

Brian Tracy once mentioned that the average person reads less than one book a year! What would happen if you were to read

Investing in 2011

They always say the best time to really take a shot at becoming nice and wealthy is during a recession or during times of deep economic uncertainty. With that being said, we all know that  we are standing in the midst of such a time right now. Things such as house prices etc go down in value, people stop spending money because they are afraid of what will happen to their jobs, companies lay off employees because business no longer booms and a cycle is created. Television stations, radios and newspapers begin crying the blues about how terrible things are, and they are indeed terrible, yet this causes the masses to do the opposite of what they should be doing, which is fantastic

Improving Your Credit Rating

The other day I was looking at all of my debts and pondering over the fact that I’m never accepted for credit at banks and for things that require loans and thought to myself 'My credit must be terrible!’ I decided to check it out and learn more about the whole thing. I stumbled across a website called 'www.moneysavingexpert.com' which provides information on different topics in the financial world and educated myself a little more.

There are three main agencies [UK]. Experian, Equifax and Call-credit. They take into consideration payment records on credit cards, loans, phones and other accounts which require a regular payment. Late payments on accounts are recorded and anything which remains unpaid for 3 months is then recorded as a default. They then utilise this information to provide a score which determines

A Financial Plan For Security

So I’m now on the road and the first thing I have noticed is that nobody really gets wealthy from a job!

I’m baulking at the goal that I’ve set myself, with savings at £0.00 and no money coming in that lingers at all. My debts stare me in my face and plague my dreams, and while not a lot when compared with other people, it still provokes the letters to come through and means I can’t borrow money to do a thing due to a blown

The Financial Journey

My name is Alex Young and I am 26 Years Old. I have plenty of optimism, plenty of drive and i’m eager to learn. I’m also FLAT broke!

I always wondered how financially successful individuals made it, exactly how they got there and wished the path could be documented so that others could follow, so I decided to do it myself, to go an adventure;
